An Introduction to Bootstrap Methods Using Arc

Iain Pardoe and Sanford Weisberg

Abstract

This report presents (1) the basic ideas of bootstrapping when applied in regression problems, as described in Davison and Hinkley (1997) and Efron and Tibshirani (1993), and (2) how to implement these ideas using Arc, the computer package that accompanies Cook and Weisberg (1999). This add-on works for linear, generalized linear, nonlinear and generalized nonlinear models.
